I was chatting in one chat room with a woman from Sacramento, who cannot
put up a dish, becuase of the CC&Rs of her neighborhood, though she did not
say which neighborhood she was in.
She was told that the FCC rules do not apply to her neighborhood. She
told me this. She told me that Chuckie is right, she is right, I am right,
and the rest of you on ba.broadcast is wrong.
Her parents, whom she is living with, while finishing college, were
actually made to take down dish they put up. They were told to take down the
dish or else. This is what she told me, and they have to pay a lot more to
Comcast for the same service they got on a dish. Since her parents are paying
for college for her, and her sister, they actually had to subscribe to fewer
channels on Comcast than they could get on a dish.
So Chuckie is right, there are ways to get around FCC rules and ban dishes.
Wherever she is living found a way to ban dishes. It is just simply in the
way you write the rules. This should put the issue to rest once and for all.
There ARE ways to ban dishes. This one girls parents found out the HARD WAY
that it CAN be done.

She told you that Chuckie is right. How, pray tell, does she know
Chuckie?

But, for the record, the U.S. government takes whatever area of law
they wish to take. This means that local law cannot contradict it.
The FCC has ruled that local governments can NOT ban dishes. End of
story.

But, you knew that.

Including Phil Kane, a practicing communications attorney who, in
addition to all of his other qualifications served as head of the San
Francisco district office of the FCC?

I don't think so, Chuck!

How did "they" make someone take down a dish? At gunpoint? I would have
said "get lost" and resumed my life. Sounds like you know too many
wusses, Chuck.

No, there isn't.

Why? Because you say so?

What would have happened if they had left it up? A lawsuit? That would
have been a good thing because they would have won it. And then THAT
would have settled it "once and for all".

You know, modern psychiatry has made great strides in dealing with
multiple personalities. You might want to give your local clinic
a call.
